Little Scholars Early Learning Center provides your child with a safe and healthy learning environment. Every classroom features an activity table, snack and lunch area, and outdoor play space; teachers also offer structured and unstructured activities designed to foster physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.
Children are encouraged to explore their imagination and develop creative problem-solving techniques, work collaboratively with peers, and form lasting interpersonal relationships with teachers and staff members, all while building self-esteem and trustworthiness.
Teachers and children collaborate to craft a curriculum tailored to each child’s needs, using research-backed best practices in child development. Teachers communicate regularly with both children and parents so that everyone’s requirements are being met.
Children learn through play, multisensory experiences, and interactions with peers. According to research, when children are actively engaged, they acquire new knowledge, make discoveries, determine how things work, understand rules, and find solutions to problems more efficiently. Little Scholars classrooms are designed with children in mind – shelves are open, supplies are kept at low levels, and tables have been adjusted lower so they can easily reach all materials.
Classrooms are equipped with video and audio surveillance for added safety. A secure door requires parents to show identification, providing extra protection during drop-off/pick-up times.
Little Scholars provides an environment tailored to children’s developmental needs. Each classroom features age-appropriate themes to provide a rich educational experience while encouraging learning through play. Activities in each class help children build coordination, strengthen muscles, expand their imaginations, and develop social skills while having fun!
Children’s learning is enhanced by highly qualified teachers who foster trusting relationships with each child, providing consistent care and attention. Teachers demonstrate positive behaviors, encourage participation, provide practical feedback/coaching sessions, and enforce classroom rules effectively while nurturing emotional health by showing warmth and affection towards all their pupils.
All staff are educated in positive discipline techniques that instruct children on what they should do rather than outlining what they cannot do. Teachers also specialize in identifying children’s feelings and helping them express them in socially acceptable ways while using various educational strategies that foster self-control by encouraging independence.
Bell and her team recognize that children learn at different rates and work to help each of their students meet their individual goals. Heidi has become capable of fastening her shoes, coat, and hat and identifying ABCs. Additionally, she can count and recognize numbers and colors. We are proud of Heidi and plan to return her to Little Scholars Academy Preschool!
Little Scholars fosters children’s physical development through activities designed to strengthen muscles, build coordination, and expand imagination. We provide a safe, clean, healthy environment where children can flourish emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically.
Little scholars also encourage each child to become more independent and learn through natural curiosity. Students spend much time outdoors exploring their surroundings with all five senses to glean as much knowledge about life as possible. Their curriculum offers various activities so each child can choose one that most interests them.
Every child deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity at our school. Children will not be physically disciplined, humiliated, verbally abused, threatened with food or sleep deprivation, or mistreated. All classroom teachers utilize positive discipline techniques that teach children what they should be doing rather than telling them not to do something; for instance, if a toddler runs into the building during class time, they would be instructed to walk instead of running.
Parents should pack lunch or dinner daily in a container marked with their child’s name, along with snacks in the morning and afternoon (milk/fruit juice will be available with these snacks) as per New York State Daycare regulations, nap/rest time will be available to children attending school four hours or more per day.

BELLA promotes cognitive skills such as estimation and mental flexibility that are increasingly recognized as integral for 21st-century learning (Care et al. 2018), yet these are often neglected in early childhood curricula and assessments, which primarily focus on academic content. BELLA seeks to address this gap by offering enjoyable activities combined with cutting-edge assessment technology; its evaluation includes educational content and cognitive skill development, including analytical, creative, and practical thinking of 3-5-year-old children.
BELLA is one of the first tablet-based assessments explicitly addressing cognitive skill development. By comparison, most pre-K classroom assessments of literacy and numeracy skills, like STAR-EL, do not assess cognitive skills (only academic domains). BELLA performance tasks consist of traditional and novel items that differ by cognitive dimension, knowledge domain, and difficulty level – Table 2 displays descriptive statistics for item discrimination values by field, while Table 3 details average pass rates across cognitive domains for binary credit items with partial credits.
